Companions or Legendary Keepsakes for Hades covers a special feature for the game where players will be able to summon various entities to Zagreus aid during their dungeon runs. Players can only equip one Legendary Keepsake per run, which means they can only summon one of the available Companions per run. They can be upgraded to be summoned multiple times in each run. This page aims to present a list of all the Companions or Legendary Keepsakes in the game, how to acquire them, and how they can be used in combat.

What are Companions or Legendary Keepsakes

Legendary Keepsakes or Companions are special Keepsakes that allow you to summon the aid of a friend for a period of time, depending on how the particular Legendary Keepsake works. Each Companion works differently when called upon - some will appear in the room to do their thing for a period of time, while another may only just enact a single powerful strike. They can only be summoned once per escape attempt at first but can be upgraded to be used up to five times at maximum in a run. They are acquired by building up Zagreus' relationship with particular characters until a certain point when he can give them Ambrosia.

How to Upgrade Legendary Keepsakes

Legendary Keepsakes or Companions can only be used once per run initially. However, they can be upgraded up to 4 times to a maximum rank of 5, allowing you to use them an additional time per run for each rank. You'll need the following amounts of Ambrosia to upgrade Legendary Keepsakes or Companions:

  • 2nd Rank - 1 Ambrosia
  • 3rd Rank - 2 Ambrosia
  • 4th Rank - 3 Ambrosia
  • 5th Rank - 4 Ambrosia

How to Acquire Companions or Legendary Keepsakes in Hades

Legendary Keepsakes or Companions are acquired in a special way compared to the normal Keepsakes. First, you'll have to give multiple Nectar to each of the characters tied to the Legendary Keepsake to build up your relationship with them. Eventually, when you check the Codex for your affinity for that character, you'll see a heart with a keyhole in place of the usual hearts. This means that you won't be able to give them more Nectar to progress, but you'll need to talk to them to carry out a request or do something special to progress your relationship with them. Afterward, you'll be able to give them Ambrosia and they'll give you a Legendary Keepsake in return. The following NPCs are who you should give your multiple Nectars to:

  • Achilles
  •  Dusa
  • Megaera
  • Sisyphus
  • Skelly
  • Thanatos

How to Acquire Ambrosia in Hades

After you clear the game for the very first time, you'll gain access to a feature called the Pact of Punishment. This feature will allow you to make your runs more difficult in a lot of different aspects, customizable by you, in order to also gain more rewards. For every single way you make your run more difficult, you get 1 Heat. Per amount of Heat, and per Weapon used, you can claim Bounty rewards for beating the Bosses in each Location in the Underworld. One of these rewards is Ambrosia, usually given after defeating both the Minotaur and Theseus.

Aside from this, you can also get Ambrosia through the following methods:

  • Completing prophecies from The Fated List
  • Buying them for Diamonds at the Wretched Broker
  • Turning in Bass (fish) to the Head Chef
