Hermes is an NPC in Hades. Hermes is the Olympian god of commerce, trickery, and travel, who serves as both the messenger of the gods and a guide for souls in the Underworld alongside Charon. While Charon ferries souls down the Styx, Hermes delivers them to him. He also offers Boons to Zagreus which enhances his speed through various means such as attack and special speed. Additionally, his boons can bolster Zagreus' dash and Cast recovery.

Hermes is the messenger of the Gods, God of Merchants, and Tricksters. As soon as he learns about Zagreus, he swiftly intervenes to aid him in his escape from the Underworld. With a lively and talkative demeanor, Hermes rarely pauses for breath, embodying a frenzied energy that matches his rapid speech. Despite his primary role as a messenger, he also serves as a psychopomp alongside Charon, guiding souls to their designated destinations. He is energetic and possesses a keen awareness of events within the Underworld, making him one of the most informed Olympian gods. However, his quick delivery of information can sometimes make it challenging for others to keep up, with crucial details easily slipping past less attentive ears. Despite his bustling nature, he maintains a genuine camaraderie with his fellow guardians of the dead, including the formidable Charon, who appears to enjoy his lively company. Despite his jovial and mischievous demeanor, he harbors secrets not readily shared with others, even among the Olympians. While openly assisting Zagreus, he strategically withholds certain information for personal gain, maintaining a level of secrecy that extends even to his divine peers. For instance, despite his association with Zeus, Hermes keeps silent about Persephone's return to the Underworld.
